The Kokoda Track is one of many walking tracks that existed long before Europeans came into this part of the world. During the course of World War II, the Japanese decided to use this trail as a means of launching a ground attack against the Australians in Port Moresby. On this trek, we set out to explore the complete route of the campaign starting from Owers' Corner perched high on the Sogeri Plateau, and eventually working our way east to the village of Kokoda. Fast Facts: • DEPARTURE DATE: 26 May - 6 June, 2012 • FUNDRAISING TARGET: $7,900 The fundraising target will cover both your travel expenses and a minimum donation to Variety, the children's charity to assist them in continuing their vital work. $4,170 of your fundraising target will cover your travel expenses including return airfares and in-country costs and a minimum of $3,730 per person will go directly to Variety, the children's charity. • REGISTRATION FEE: $700 Please note the registration fee is in addition to the fundraising target of $7,900 and is non-refundable. • TRIP DURATION: 11 days • PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: 9 days trekking • CHALLENGE GRADE: Challenging • ACCOMMODATION: Hotels and Comfortable Camping There are only 20 spots available, which means the time to register your interest is now. |
